When Do You Need Emergency Dental Care for Tooth Pain?

Signs You Need to Call Your Emergency Dentist

Not every tooth pain warrants a call to your emergency dentist. However, if you experience pain and swelling in your tooth that has spread to different parts of your face or if the tooth pain comes with a high fever then yes, you need to call your emergency dentist as soon as possible.

Pain with bleeding even if you’ve already applied pressure would also require emergency dental care.

If you have tooth pain accompanied with trouble breathing or swallowing or if the pain is getting worse even if you've already taken antibiotics, you must call your emergency dentist.

Signs You Don’t Need to Call An Emergency Dentist

When the only symptom you are experiencing is pain, it’s not considered a dental emergency. But, you do need to see your dentist so you can be checked and for your dentist to identify what’s causing the pain.
